Hardik, Varun, Kishan Trio Push India Towards Record Breaking Win

India secured their biggest-ever T20 World Cup victory by runs on Thursday. They crushed Namibia by 93 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. This was their second straight win in the 2026 tournament.

Ishan Kishan set the tone early. He smashed 61 runs off just 24 balls. Hardik Pandya kept the pressure on with a fierce 52 off 28 balls. Their efforts helped India post a massive total of 209 for 9.

Sanju Samson replaced Abhishek Sharma in the lineup. He added a quick 22 runs from 8 deliveries. Namibia’s chase started well but fell apart quickly. They were eventually bowled out for 116 in 18.2 overs.

Captain Suryakumar Yadav admitted the pitch was tough to bat, he stated, “Pretty good game, tough pitch to bat on. Ishan, Samson made it look easier. Ball was stopping a bit, but not taking credit away from Namibia’s bowlers. After 6-7 overs, we thought we might go over 240 but cricket is a leveller.”

He further added, “We had a great finish. Big plus see Bumrah bowl all four. Varun bowls well in partnership with Axar. Hardik bowls wherever needed and gives a big boost with bat. Every game is important, we started a bit scratchy but we are on the road.”

The star with the ball was Varun Chakravarthy. He is currently the No. 1 ranked T20I bowler in the world. He dismantled Namibia’s middle order with incredible figures of 3 for 7 in his two overs.

Varun is often called a “mystery spinner.” He uses variations like the carrom ball and sharp googlies to confuse batters. Suryakumar noted that Varun’s partnership with Axar Patel is a major strength for the team.

The 34-year-old architect-turned-cricketer has become a vital asset. He was a hero in the 2025 Champions Trophy and Asia Cup wins. Now, he is the anchor of India’s spin attack in their World Cup defense.
