According to AccuWeather, thunderstorms and rain is predicted between 6 pm to 10 pm on Sunday.
The Asia Cup between India and Sri Lanka could see 90 per cent chance of showers in the evening as the weather forecast predict the day to stay cloudy throughout. The title clash which is scheduled to begin at 3 pm could potentially see delayed start and the thunderstorms are also expected between 1-2 pm.
Since the brief spell of rain on Thursday, Colombo hasn’t witnessed any rain for the past two days. Although there were predictions of heavy showers on Friday and Saturday evening, it just remained gloomy. And according to AccuWeather, thunderstorms and rain is predicted between 6 pm to 10 pm, meaning there could be brief stoppages in play.
The city has been witnessing rains mostly when the conditions in the morning are hot and the humidity is on the higher side. But on days where it has remained gloomy — which is the forecast for Sunday as well — there have been only brief spells of drizzle. In case it rains on Sunday and the match can’t be completed, a reserve day is in place on Monday which will be activated. Last Sunday, India’s match against Pakistan was affected by rain and bringing the reserve day into effect.
