
Abhishek accomplished another feat of hitting the most sixes for an Indian in a single T20I innings smashing 13 sixes in this match and broke Rohit Sharma’s earlier record of 10 sixes.
Following Abhishek Sharma’s explosive innings against England in India’s fifth T-20 International at Wankhede Stadium, England’s former opener Alastair Cook has heaped huge praise on the batsman. Abhishek Sharma Scored 135 runs off just 54 balls, helping India record a commanding victory in their fifth T-20 International on Sunday.
Cook commented, “Abhishek Sharma hit more sixes in two hours than I hit in my whole life!”
Though Abhishek didn’t win the title for the fastest century, he accomplished another feat of hitting the most sixes for an Indian in a single T20I innings. Sharma smashed 13 sixes in this match and broke Rohit Sharma’s earlier record of 10 sixes, while he was playing against Sri Lanka in the year 2017.
Meanwhile, Abhishek Sharma expressed that his mentor Yuvraj Singh would be proud of his effort and in the post-match presentation, he credited Gautam Gambhir and captain Suryakumar Yadav for urging him to play his natural game and express himself freely. With this victory, India secured a 4-1 series win and now look ahead to the upcoming three-match ODI series against England, starting on 6th February.
“Probably he should be, I think, after this, but he always wanted me to, you know, bat till 15, 20 overs. And as I’ve been in this team as well, even Gauti Bhai wanted the same thing. So, I think today was my day, and I implemented it well,” commented Abhishek after the match.
