The staff dug a pit in the mid-wicket area, dubbed the 'pain spot,' and filled it with dry grass from the nets. Previously, on Day 1 during the inspection, umpires consistently mentioned this area as concerning.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) is disappointed in the poor management and lack of modern infrastructure impacting the test match.
The furious ACB official exclaimed - “This is a huge mess, we are never coming back here. The players are also unhappy with the facilities here,”
"We had spoken with the concerned people well in advance and were assured by the stadium guys that everything will be in order” - as the officials continued the statement.
The Afghanistan vs New Zealand one-off Test has been a major disappointment so far. No balls were bowled on the first day due to a complete washout, and on Day 2, the match couldn't start on time as the outfield remained wet. The groundmen were seen putting rigorous efforts into the Greater Noida Sports Complex stadium, to start the test on Day 2.
The staff dug a pit in the mid-wicket area, dubbed the 'pain spot,' and filled it with dry grass from the nets. This has caused further delays, with the toss still pending as the match moves into Day 2.
Previously, on Day 1 during the inspection, umpires consistently mentioned this area as concerning. Despite minimal rain, poor drainage and outfield conditions have prevented any play for four sessions.
While there was some rain on the evening of Day 1, there has been no further precipitation, yet the field hasn't been prepared for play.
