Even though second division I-league will not be televised live, United Sports' request disallowed.
Despite repeated requests to allow showing their home matches in the second division I-League, commencing on Tuesday, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) has disallowed United Sports to show its home matches live on their YouTube channel, United Sports TV.
The team that has been back in the I-League after almost a decade will begin their journey in the second division I-league against Lajong FC Shillong at Kalyani Stadium.
Significantly, the club's top brass made the request to the AIFF asking the Indian football's ruling body to allow them to show the team's home matches through United Sports TV only if AIFF does not telecast second division I-League matches live through any other TV channel.
According to one of the club's senior executives, "Second-division matches are not being shown live. Still, we have not been allowed to show our home match through our YouTube channel. We could have earned the least amount of sponsorship and advertisements if the federation had allowed us to show our matches through our channel."
The clubs will have to spend more than Rs 1 lakh to organize each home match whereas it will receive Rs 60 thousand in grants from the federation. But unfortunately, the payment will be made by the AIFF after the clubs on reimbursement."
However, before their opening match in the I-league against Lajong FC, United Sports is going to miss one of their key midfielders Tarak Hembram after his back pain survived a couple of days ago. Still, the team's Belgian coach Steve Herbot did not look concerned in the media conference that took place on Monday. Herbot said, "The team work is important and I have stressed building up the team work. Every footballer has to push themselves on the field although the opening match becomes always difficult for any team to execute what they practiced. Still, I am hopeful about the boys."
