AIFF under fire from the I-League clubs on Mario Barco’s illegal participation in the I-League!

Incidentally, the AIFF has not also been able to make official declaration of the relegated teams from the elite I-league this season!

All India Football Federation (AIFF) has also been under fire from those I-League clubs for not yet listing the Mario Barco complaint issue.

Churchill Brothers, Delhi FC, Real Kashmir, Namdhari FC, and Shillong Lajong complained to the AIFF against Inter Kashi for having fielded their Spanish striker, Mario Barco in the second phase of recently-concluded I-League despite the fact that the UP-based club allegedly sought replacement of injured Mario Barco during his stint in the I-League first phase.

Aditya Barros Pereira, General Manager of Churchill Brothers when asked about the issue explained, “Yes, we have submitted a complaint against Inter Kashi on the issue. They declared Mario Barco injured, seeking a new registered foreigner and they got it also which meant Mario Barco was ruled out of the remaining League matches completely. Then how could he participate in the second phase of the League? Is it not illegal?"

Aditya added, "But the more significant issue is that AIFF has not yet listed the complaints and sent them to the disciplinary committee! Along with us the clubs like Real Kashmir, Namdhari FC, and Delhi FC  have also lodged the same complaint as Mario Barco was fielded in the matches against them in the last phase of the I-league. If the complaints are listed then Inter Kashi should lose at least 12 points."

The second phase match between Churchill Brothers and Inter Kashi ended in 2-2 draw and Mario scored one goal in the match after being fielded on the 51st minute.

Delhi FC owner Ranjit Bajaj when asked about the issue alleged, “The AIFF has not even acknowledged our complaints. Once the complaints are discussed inter Kashi will lose more than 10 points as Mario Barco was played in he second phase of the I-League, breaking the I-League rule.” Bajaj also lamented saying, “We also have been the victim of biased match-supervision, not only in one match, in our five-six crucial matches we were made lost to the opponents. What could we do? Only Supreme Court can save us.”

Rajasthan United FC however has not submitted any complaint although Mario played against them on 6th April.

Incidentally, the AIFF has not also been able to make official declaration of the relegated teams from the elite I-league this season! Following complaint to the AIFF disciplinary committee by the SC Bengaluru against Namdhari FC for allegedly fielding a footballer illegally, the final decision has to be made by the AIFF disciplinary committee before making official announcement of the relegated teams from I-League.

SC Bengaluru finished at 11th spot in the League table with 21 points from 22 matches while Delhi FC finished last with 14 points from 22 matches. SC Bengaluru seems hopeful of getting full points from the AIFF disciplinary committee that can take them out of the relegation.
