Ajinkya Rahane, Mumbai Ranji Trophy captain might as well lead Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2025. The franchise bought the 36 years old at his base price of Rs. 1.5 crore. 

According to TOI, it is almost 90% confirmed that Rahane will be introduced as captain as they published, “Yes, at the moment it's 90% confirmed that Ajinkya will be the new KKR captain. He was bought by KKR specifically for the purpose of being a viable captaincy option.” 

While the fans speculated that SRK’s franchise might opt for allrounder Venkatesh Iyer to lead the team, as the franchise bought him with an astonishing number of Rs. 23.75 crore this development surely came as a surprise. 

IPL might be a huge turnout for the cricketer as he was recently replaced by Shreyas Iyer in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy. 

While Rahane doesn't represent India internationally anymore, his experience in captaincy credentials are surely unmatchable in Indian Cricket.
