Suhail Bhat was chosen man of the match.
Alex Akash Mondol's brilliant 25-yard right-footed strike that stunned Mohun Bagan custodian went in vain as Mohun Bagan registered a convincing 4-1 victory against CFC in their CFL Premier Division match at Barakpore Stadium on Friday.
Suhail Bhat broke the deadlock in the 31st minute but the scoreline was equalized by Mondol in the 40th minute. Mondal, dribbling past a couple of Bagan midfielders and defenders unleashed a piercing 25 yard-right footer and it stunned the Bagan custodian. Bagan coach Bastav Roy was also highly impressed by Mondal's goal.
CFC coach Jamshed Nasiri although happy with Alex goal, said, "He is actually a wing-half. Today I had to play him as a left-back. He did not play regularly, quit the game two years ago. I asked him to appear for trials very recently, less than a month. But he has an impressive shooting quality. In the training he scores goals from accurate long-rangers."
However Bastav Roy expressed anxiety over the team's conceding goals in last couple of matches. Suhail Bhat scored twice and Engson Singh scored twice for the winners finally. Suhail Bhat was chosen man of the match.
