Amit Tudu waits for the day he will ask his father to take a rest from farming

Amit came to the limelight representing India thrice in the under-14, under-16, and under-19 category

Amit Tudu has come to the headlines after he scored the winning goal for his team United Sports against Shillong Lajong FC in their crucial second-division I-League match on Monday.

Amit’s forefathers were from Odisha. His father and uncle shifted to Noabila village, Kanchrapara where he resides with his parents and brother in a mud house. His father Swana Tudu is a farmer. Amit in his childhood, inspired by witnessing his uncle playing, came in love with football. He used to walk for 30 minutes every day to the Kalyani Municipal Ground to play the game. He had a well-wisher named Osman Ali. Ali used to look after Amit as his father had to struggle to survive financially.

Following Ali's initiative, Tudu introduced him to Kajal Biswas and under his tutelage Amit came to the limelight representing India thrice in the under-14, under-16, and under-19 categories. He was one of the key members of the SAF Games winning national team in 2012. Even the India cap in under-19 steered him to sign for ISL side Odisha FC.

Tudu said, "Despite having signed for the team I was not played. That was 2019. Frustrated by sitting on the bench I returned to Bengal and finally joined Peerless."

Amit now has the only aim to help United Sports to take to the elite I-League. His second target is to make such a consistent performance that compels any ISL team to sign and finally, he waits for the day when he will ask his father to take a rest from farming.

He concluded, "If I can be consistent in I-League with United Sports then I can draw the attention of the ISL teams as well as the national coach. I want to play in the ISL and earn a worthy amount of money. I have renovated our mud house to concrete with the help of earning whatever I have made so far. I wait for the day when I can ask my father to take a rest from farming every day."
