Legendary West Indian pacer Andy Roberts has advised Virat Kohli to focus on Test cricket to regain his form ahead of the third Test, scheduled to begin on 14th December in Brisbane.
Roberts, known for his candid approach, urged the Indian star to "get your batting right" and prioritise the traditional format of the game. Kohli, one of the finest batters of his generation, has faced recent struggles with his form.
Robert indicated Kohli’s performance and stated, "I don't know if there will be a revival after the Adelaide defeat, but get your batting right. One of your best batsmen of all-time has been struggling for the last five years".
Recently, Virat Kohli was seen bowling in the nets in Adelaide on Tuesday, while Indian pacers Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj had a quiet session. Kohli, with previous bowling experience in eleven Test innings, has yet to take a wicket.
Following his recent century in Perth, Kohli was dismissed twice by edges in the pink-ball Test, with catches taken by the second slip and wicketkeeper. His net session began cautiously, gradually intensifying, reflecting a focused approach to his preparation.
In an interview with Mid-Day, Roberts provided a broader perspective to Kohli, who silenced his critics with an impressive 81st international century in Perth.
This remarkable feat, his first Test hundred in 16 months, played a key role in India's historic 295-run victory. Roberts believes that Test cricket offers Kohli the perfect platform to regain his focus, highlighting the significance of red-ball cricket in shaping a player's legacy.
