Three years ago, he started his journey in international table tennis participating in this WTT Star Contender in Tunisia. He participated in the under-15 category that year and finished as the runner-up. 

Ankur Bhattacharya in his second trip to Tunisia, erasing his previous statistics clinched the gold medal in the singles event held on Monday.

He outfoxed Rem Chambet Weil of the Netherlands in the quarterfinal (3-0). Then Ankur overcame 3-1 with Antonie of France in the semi-final and in the final, the 17-year-old paddler trounced Ukraine’s Mykyta Zavada 3-1. 

Ukraine paddler also drew attention in the competition stunning the top-seeded paddler of the competition.
