Ankur Bhattacharya's gallant fight finally went in vain as India's number-one ranked youth paddler lost to China's Sun Yang by 2-3 in the under-19 semi-final of the Youth Star Contender Singapore on Sunday in Singapore.
Trailing by 0-2, Ankur returned to the match with his brilliant forehand and backhand jabs all across the board, making the scoreline 2-2.
But finally, Sun Yang had the last laugh as Ankur made a few important unforced errors in his backhand strokes.
Bhattacharya who lost to Sun Yang for the second time so far spoke after the match over the phone, "His defensive organization was superb. Still, I made some crucial unforced errors in the final game."
Despite the loss, the spectators, even some of the organizing committee representatives made huge applause to Bhattacharya after the match.
