Anustup to Lead Bengal Team in Ranji Trophy Without Shami and Porel

Bengal's Ranji Trophy campaign kicks off on October 11 with their opening match against Uttar Pradesh. Their second game is scheduled for October 18 at Eden Gardens, where they will face Bihar.

The Bengal team for the first two rounds of the Ranji Trophy was announced on Friday. They introduced a few new faces in the squad. Anustup Majumdar will lead the Bengal team. However, Ishan Porel, won't be included in the main squad and has been kept on standby. 

Shami was anticipated to miss the first two rounds of the Ranji Trophy after sustaining an ankle injury at the National Cricket Academy. However, in a video released on Friday, he is seen performing various physical exercises, including weightlifting, suggesting a potential call-up for the New Zealand series.

Akash Deep is included in the Bengal squad, along with Abhimanyu Easwaran and Mukesh Kumar. However, their participation as Bengal players remains uncertain, as a selection for the New Zealand squad would rule them out of the Ranji Trophy matches for 

There are some faces in the Bengal Squad. They are Abhilin Ghosh, Rishav Vivek, and Rohit Kumar (Under-23). Additionally, Yudhajit Guh, who has played for India's Under-19 team, has also been included.
