The PSC also imposed a financial penalty of Rs 12. 9 Crore as the compensation claimed by Mohun Bagan Super Giants (MBSG).
The Players Status Committee (PSC) of the All India Football Federation has finally banned Anwar Ali for four months. The decision will be officially announced on Tuesday after the AIFF's ongoing executive committee meeting is over.
The PSC also at the same time imposed a huge financial penalty of Rs 12. 9 Crore as the compensation claimed by Mohun Bagan Super Giants (MBSG). According to the PSC decision, the compensation will have to be borne by the footballer, East Bengal and Delhi FC.
East Bengal and Delhi FC have also been prohibited from registering new footballers for the next two transfer periods.
The dispute over Anwar Ali, probably the biggest in Indian football history in recent times started with Anwar Ali, contracted with MBSG on loan for four years on 9th July, had shifted his allegiance by signing for East Bengal in less than 24 hours on 10th July. A tripartite agreement was signed between Delhi FC, the footballer, and East Bengal on a five-year deal.
It is believed that according to the agreement East Bengal agreed to pay Delhi FC a transfer fee of Rs 2.5 crore and following a crucial clause if Anwar Ali faces a fine due to circumstances surrounding the transfer it would be split equally between East Bengal and Delhi FC.
The PSC, after going through five rigorous hearings had the last meeting on 22nd August before delivering its final verdict on 9th September night.
Anwar Ali's four-match sporting ban will start on 13th September, on the first day of ISL 2024-25. The football has to pay 50 percent of the compensation (Rs 12.90 crore).
A PSC member revealed on condition of anonymity, "There is the provision of submitting an appeal."
