RFYC scored 33 goals and conceded 10 thus finishing in a positive goal difference of 30 goals.
Reliance Foundation Young Champs (RFYC) has qualified for the National Championships of the ongoing Reliance Foundation Development League (RDFL). They crossed the hurdles of tuff opponents like Mumbai City FC, East Bengal FC, and Velsao SCC to qualify for the National Group stage. All the games were played in Mumbai.
RFYC scored 33 goals and conceded 10 thus finishing in a positive goal difference of 30 goals. Mumbai City FC has finished second with 11 points behind RFYC. Thus RFYC is heading to play in the national group stage with high confidence.
Arata Izumi, former International and RFYC coach told in an interview, "We had some really talented teams in our group like Mumbai City FC. So it was important to get good results early on and we just put the entire focus on our preparations that have been going on for a very long time with all my players involved in the setup."
RFYC will now fight to lift the RDFL trophy for which they will start their battle in the final four. Moreover, they have got the opportunity of playing in the Premier League Next Generation Cup to be held in Mumbai where teams like Everton FC, West Ham United FC, Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, and South African top-tier league team Stellenbosch FC are participating.
In spite of this Izumi is not going to lose his focus. He said, "Right now we have to attend the next challenge lying in front of us, the National Championship. We have done well so far and it is important not to think too far. Our philosophy is to take one day one game." He also added that his team will give 100 percent in every match. According to Izumi the boys, of course, will gather a lot of experience playing in the Next Generation Cup but right now he wants his team to be focused on the National Championship.
