Arjun Singh and Sunil Singh Salam clinch bronze in men's canoe double 1000m

For the first Time in 45 years Indian archers script history

Indian pair, Arjun Singh and Sunil Singh Salam secured the bronze medal in men's canoe double 1000m at the Fuyang Water Sports Centre at the Asian Games on Tuesday on 3rd October. They finished with a stunning course of 3:53.329. 

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan's Shokhmurod Kholmuradov and Nurislom Tukhtasin Ugli swiped the gold with a time of 3:43.796 and Timofey and Sergey Yemelyanov of Kazakhstan won silver with a time of 3:49.991.

This striking achievement is India's second Asian Games medal in canoeing, following a bronze medal in the same event in the year 1994 by Johnny Rommel and Siji Kumar Sadanandan.

Indian archers showed off their skill set on Tuesday, and assured India of at least three medals in Compound events.

Ojas Pravin and Abhishek Verma qualified for Men's Compound Individual event while Jyoti Surekha Vennam joined other contenders for the final of women's compound individual archery event. Such an endeavor has not been accomplished by India in long 45 years.
