
Sheetal Devi, India’s first armless archer represented India at the Paris Paralympics last year, defying all odds with her determination and skill.
Business tycoon Anand Mahindra, inspired by Sheetal Devi’s inspirational journey gifted her a ‘Mahindra Scorpio-N’ as a gesture of admiration after meeting the Paralympian and her family. Sheetal Devi, India’s first armless archer represented India at the Paris Paralympics last year, defying all odds with her determination and skill. Her ability to shoot arrows using her feet hasbeen an inspiration for the sports fraternity across the world.
Mahindra expressed his admiration for Sheetal’s grit and determination, noting that he saw the same steely resolve in her mother and sister. The 69-year-old Mahindra took to X to share his thoughts and praise Sheetal.
“I have long admired Sheetal Devi's talent from afar. Meeting her in person, I was struck by her remarkable determination, tenacity, and focus. Speaking to her mother and sister, it was clear that it runs in the family!" Mahindra wrote.
“She gifted me an arrow, a symbol of her identity as an archer, unbound by any limitations. Truly priceless! Sheetal is an inspiration to us all, and I am proud to see her in a Scorpio-N—a fitting steed as she rises to new heights," he added.
Last year, in September, Sheetal Devi won the bronze medal in the mixed team compound event in archery along with Rakesh Kumar. They defeated Italy’s Matteo Bonacina and Eleonora 156-155 at Invalides. Sheetal and Rakesh also equalled Turkiye’s Paralympic record, which was set four years ago in 2021.
