Army Red, termed the ‘dark horse’ in the CFL Premier Division this season, finishing their group league engagement within the top six. They drubbed CFC 4-0 in their concluding group league match at the Amal Dutta Krirangan on Saturday. They garnered 21 points in their 12 league matches. Diamond Harbor FC, Mohammedan Sporting, Kalighat MS, Mohun Bagan, and Peerless are the five teams ahead of Army Red in the league table so far. 

Francis Znuntlunga, Christopher Kamei, Somesh Kothari, and Subham Rana struck for the winners in almost a one-side affair on the day.

Army team however had an inspiring season as after six years, Army team reached the quarterfinals in the ongoing Durand Cup. Simultaneously, six of their footballers who played both in the CFL and Durand Cup have been roped in by different I-League teams for the I-League this season. 

However, Suresh Metei one of their key defenders has been roped in by Punjab FC to take part in the ISL this season.
