Asansol's Abhinav Shaw clinches bronze, makes his family proud

He swiped the medal after making it to the eight-shooter finals, shooting 227.6

Abhinav Shaw, a sharpshooter hailing from Asansol, West Bengal, bagged a bronze medal in the in the 10m Air Rifle Men Junior individual event in the ongoing Asian Championship held at Changwon South Korea on Thursday.

Abhinav took the medal after making it to the eight-shooter finals, shooting 227.6. The gold and silver medals went to players from China. The competition started on 20th Oct and will continue till 1st Nov 2023.

Earlier this year, Abhinav won a gold and a silver medal in the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) Junior World Cup in Suhl, Germany. He also took two gold, one in 10m air rifle men's event and another with Gautami Bhanot in the 10m air rifle mixed team in the ISSF World Championship Juniors held in Korea. This bronze is Abhinav's 5th medal this year.

Asansol Rifle Club, his school and his family are elated and proud of his achievements. WBRA President Mr. V K Dhall congratulated the shooter and his family and stated that they are proud of the fact that Abhinav is a member of their club.

Abhinav is currently a student of class 11, and his Principal Mr. Ravi Victor congratulated him and gave him his blessings. Abhinav's grandfather Mr. Ram Chandra Prasad Shaw is extremely happy and proud of his grandson's increasing medal tally.
