On Friday, Ravindra Jadeja narrowly missed his fifth Test century, falling just 14 runs short after Taskin Ahmed ended his innings.
India’s veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin heaped praises on his fellow teammate Ravindra Jadeja. The spinner wholeheartedly stated he always ‘ envied’ him.
Ashwin, while expressing his admiration for the rounder, and further highlighting his remarkable abilities stated -
"It's happened [our partnership in cricket]. You don't plan for such things. Jaddu's one cricketer who's evolved so nicely. I always envy him, I have made amply clear.”
On the opening day of the First Test Series against Bangladesh Ashwin and Jadeja showed a striking partnership while Ashwin brisked passed 113 runs Jadeja held the fort for him with his 86 runs.
Ashwin continued his statement with - “So gifted, so talented. He's found ways to maximise his potential, keeps it really simple, can repeat it day in, day out. I wish I could be him, but I am glad I am myself. He's an exceptionally good cricketer, I am happy for him.”
After the Day’s game, the 516 wickets player said - “In so many ways, watching him bat over the last couple of years has given me insights on how better I can be. Both of us have grown together, and both of us have done some special things. We really value one another at this stage, and both of us are enjoying each other's success, more than ever before,"

However, Jadeja keeping a positive note stated - "Yes, I got out today, but that's part and parcel of the game,"
One thing is certain, the secret of a successful partnership between Ashwin and Jadeja is they celebrate each other's achievements. Both of these cricket prodigies are at the backend of their career they learned and grew through different phases.
When Jadeja was asked if he wanted to give any advice to Ashwin he smilingly stated -
“Ashwin doesn't need any advice. I was just telling him that we are not going to make errors because the wicket was good and we were batting well.”
“Well played to him, a brilliant knock at his home ground.”
