In reply to India's 263 in the first innings, New Zealand are 171 for 9 at stumps.
The second day of the third test series ended with a 143 lead for New Zealand. The New Zealand fort was crumbled through India’s bowler duo Ashwin and Jadeja. They both shared seven wickets together.
Ashwin, after another brilliant performance, shared an appreciation for Dinesh Karthik; he stated, “For all the flak you've given me over the years, I don't think I've dropped many. I have got great hands, and I trusted it [on the Mitchell catch]. I think firstly the game itself was divided into two halves. The one from the pavilion end and the dressing room end. One end was flat. Hopefully not many [on the target]. It's not going to be easy, and we have to bat well. I expected a lot more bounce and speed from this Mumbai pitch, but it has been slow. Not a typical Bombay pitch; it was much slower.”
While India has not performed extraordinarily, they successfully recovered from the 10 minute nightmare of the first day. In reply to India's 263 in the first innings, New Zealand are 171 for 9 at stumps.
