Mohammad Siraj, Mohammad Shami's accurate bowling followed by Shardul Thakur and Umesh Yadav's consistency in the first 23 overs on the lively pitch at the Oval forced Australia's batting to succumb on the opening day of the World Test Championship (WTC) final on Wednesday.

Australia struggling to build up a formidable score is languishing at 99 for the three crucial wickets including the wicket of David Warner. They were 73 for the loss of Usman Khawaja and David Warner at lunch. 

Siraj broke the deadlock as Khawaja failing to read his lethal off-cutter, sneaked it to the wicketkeeper Srikar Bharat and Australia started their inning with 4 runs on the board for one wicket. Warner and Marnus Labuschangne, the number one batsman in ICC Test ranking, tried to settle down, but collapsed. Warner was caught behind off the bowling of Shardul Thakur scoring 43 and Marnus returned to pavilion after being bowled by Siraj at 26 only. Experienced Steve Smith and Travis Head are trying to fight back. Siraj scalped two wickets while Shami, Umesh and Shardul obtained one each so far.
