Bagan manage three points, United SC is in search of a sports psychologist

Diamond Harbor FC forced Peerless SC to split points with a 1-1 draw

Despite having suppressed Mohun Bagan United SC had to leave Mohun Bagan ground empty-handed with a 0-2 loss against Mohun Bagan on Saturday.

The green-and-maroon brigade managed three points reaching the top of the League table with 16 points in their sixth match on the day, thanks to individual brilliance from Nongdamba Naorem and Suhail Bhat. United SC custodian Raja Barman did not reply to Naorem’s impeccable 25-yard right-footer from the left and Suhail’s 20-yard superb right-footed punch also.

Otherwise, Saturday’s match was almost a one-sided affair for United SC. The team comprising most of the youngsters dished out an immaculate performance, taming their fancied opposition most of the time.

They gained a numerical advantage in both defending-third as well as in attacking third. They puzzled Bagan midfield and the defense several times by exhibiting splendid passing games and off-the-ball play. They created sure scoring opportunities at least four times. They lacked the only thing. That was converting the chances into goals. The strikers squandered amazing chances. The scoreline could have been 4-2 in favor of United SC.

The club’s director Nabab Bhattacharya divulged that he will be in search of an experienced sports psychologist who could motivate the boys for the team’s remaining four CFL Premier League matches. He said, "The boys are getting demoralized. They seem losing confidence. We need to win our remaining four matches to avoid relegation." United SC is stuck up at seven points in their eight matches so far.

Mohun Bagan coach Bastob Roy also praised United SC for their splendid show and admitted that the team was fortunate to obtain three points. Commenting on Naorem’s goal he stated, “He practices such long-rangers during the training and scores several times. That is why, I always ask him to play freely outside the top box area. He is committed and has tenacity also. He has a bright future"

However, among the other CFL Premier Division matches on the day, Diamond Harbor FC forced Peerless SC to split points with a 1-1 draw. CFC beat Dalhousie AC 2-1, and Kalighat MS edged past Southern Samity by a solitary goal scored by Sayan Banerjee.
