Bajaj, the owner of Delhi FC which have been relegated from the I-League this season, played a crucial role in Anwar Ali’s transfer.
Ranjit Bajaj slammed the Football Sports Development Ltd. (FSDL) and the ISL for taking Indian football to at least 50 years back.
"What they have contributed to Indian football except making their own business? How many Indian strikers have come up from ISL so far? All the clubs prefer to rope in foreign strikers. So how will Indian football get Indian strikers? The reflection is seen when Sunil Chhetri is being brought back breaking his retirement!” explained Bajaj when asked about the issue by Parallel Sports YouTubeChanel on Sunday.
Bajaj also feels Mohun Bagan Super Giants is fighting a lost case on the Anwar Ali issue. "When Fifa is changing the player-transfer rule across the world what gain MBSG will achieve fighting this case? Only due to one person's ego the issue is in Delhi High Court. Due to his ego Anwar Ali joined East Bengal otherwise, he would have had a five-year signing for MBSG," added Ranjit Bajaj.

He however sounded sceptical about the AIFF president Kalyan Chaube’s promise on getting overseas footballers of Indian origin. He said, “There are talks about opening the overseas player pool."
"Even if the AIFF president suggests this, it simply cannot happen. Allowing players from countries like Canada or others would raise serious national security concerns. The government won’t allow this, and frankly, it’s a misleading promise.”

When asked about East Bengal’s failure to succeed in the ISL this season, the Delhi FC owner clarified, “Agents are destroying football. They only focus on players already signed with them. Big clubs are not developing own scouting directors."
"Coaches should scout. But they rely on agents, which leaves many potential talents without a fair chance. Alongside, players' poor show has been an obstruction to the team's success.”
