The 2nd Test clash against India Bangladesh is scheduled to occur on 27th September at the Kanpur. The team has already arrived in Kanpur.
Two days before the 2nd Test match, one of the stands at Kanpur Stadium has been flagged as a safety risk. According to reports published by the Indian Express, the UP Public Works Department (PWD) has declared that Balcony C cannot safely accommodate its full crowd capacity, raising concerns about a potential collapse. Following a six-hour inspection by engineers, the PWD issued a stern warning to the UCPA, highlighting the significant risk posed by the compromised structure.
The UP government announced less than half tickets of Balcony to be sold for fans to avert any obvious damage. While the capacity is 4800, only 1700 tickets will be available for the crowd.
While speaking to the Indian Express the UCPA CEO Ankit Chatterjee stated - “The PWD has raised some issues and we have agreed that we will not sell all the tickets of Balcony C”.
The CEO further said “This stadium is not directly under UPCA, and we have a clear window of 40 days before a match to get it ready. We have done our best to keep everything intact before this important World Test Championship (WTC) match,” .
