Barcelona's worry with financial crisis added by irregularities in players' payments

Barcelona has been penalized with a 15.7 Million Euro (1,40,42,52,278.87 in Indian rupees) fine by Spanish tax authorities.

Barcelona clinched the La Liga title by defeating Espanyol with a score of 4-2, reclaiming their championship status from Real Madrid after four years. Still their struggle to come out of the dire financial distress is on.

The club's financial crunch has recently received another big jolt as it has been alleged of irregularities in player payments, Barcelona has been penalized with a 15.7 million Euro (1,40,42,52,278.87 in Indian rupees) fine by Spanish tax authorities. The club failed to disclose accurate compensation figures for Alex Song which is 3.5 Million Euro (31,30,36,500.00 in Indian rupees) and Arda Turan 1.3m Euro (11,62,70,700.00 in Indian rupees) after mutually terminating their contracts. Furthermore, they were found guilty of concealing expenses related to chartered flights and the provision of Audi cars to their players.

The financial struggles faced by Barcelona have become apparent, with losses amounting to 487 million Euro (43,55,82,54,000.00 in Indian rupees) in 2022 and debts exceeding $1.3 billion. Despite selling club assets to raise approximately $700 million and grappling with financial constraints, the club has embarked on a $1.5 billion stadium renovation project and made significant signings during the summer. President Joan Laporta firmly believes that on-field success will lead to increased revenue and financial stability.

However, Laporta's approach has raised concerns regarding the club's financial viability and compliance with league regulations. His personal leadership style and connections to the club's earlier prosperous era have granted him more flexibility compared to his predecessor. Laporta has encountered difficulties in persuading players to accept salary reductions while simultaneously making substantial investments in new signings. The departure of Lionel Messi due to financial constraints serves as a glaring example of the financial challenges faced by the club. Despite the uncertainties surrounding revenue generation, player registrations, and future financial obligations, Laporta remains confident in his strategy for the club's future
