Barreto-David pair is clicking, they prepare by talking to each other before every match

Mohammedan Sporting which garnered 12 points in their five matches so far has a fair chance to ensure a berth in the Super Six.

Beneston Barreto and David-Lalhlansangha pair has already been in discussion in the CFL Premier Division league as Barreto scored five goals while David's number of goals reached six on Sunday after Mohammedan Sporting edged past spirited Peerless in their fifth match at home.

Peerless broke the deadlock within a couple of minutes through a perfect Israful Dewan header. David equalized the score-line from a calculated and faultless move down the left by Barreto. Samad Ali Mullick struck the winner in the additional time.

Barreto while opining on his understanding with David upfront smilingly commented, "We often talk to each other about our opposition. We prepare ourselves through the exchange of ideas before the match even."

Barreto cited the example also stating, "Today, in the case of David's equalizer, despite having reached the top box down the left I waited a few seconds for advancing David from behind. I knew he would not take much time as he possesses a good off-the-mark speed. Hope our combination gets stronger in the team's forthcoming matches."

Barreto who had to be replaced due to a mild groin injury today during the match is setting his focus on the upcoming Durand Cup. He seems to have taken as the challenge to get into the first eleven despite the presence of foreign strikers in the team for the Duran Cup.

Barreto said, "I am aware that I will have to fight against the foreign footballers who are set to join the team for the Duran Cup and then I-league. I am ready. I will have to ensure a berth in the first eleven."

Mohammedan Sporting coach Mehrajuddin Wadoo is also happy with the boys' performance on the day, especially in the second session when the Black Panthers made it a one-sided affair, forcing Peerless into their half. Mohammedan Sporting which garnered 12 points in their five matches so far has a fair chance to ensure a berth in the Super Six.

The team is simultaneously preparing for the Durand Cup as they will play a preparatory match against Chennaiyin FC on Monday. The three foreigners, who already have joined the training, will be assessed by the chief coach, football secretary Dipendu Biswas. Mehrajudin is expecting more than six to seven footballers from his CFL team can be included in the team for Durand Cup.
