BASA’s negligence forces Kolkata women's water polo teams to miss State Games

Registration precess for the participating players was open till 4th April.

Following sheer negligence by Bengal Amateur Swimming Association (BASA) two women’s water-polo teams from Kolkata failed to participate in the ongoing State Games being held in Maldaha.

Chairman of the State Games, Swarup Biswas when contacted revealed, "None of the players of both the water polo teams were registered. Firstly, respective associations were given 18 days for the registration of their respective players. Then following requests from a few state associations we opened the registration process twice and it was closed on 4th April, three days before the commencement of the State Games. BASA failed to submit the registration of two water polo teams and naturally, they could not take part."

BASA president Ramanuj Mukherjee when contacted, said, “Yes, it was delayed. That is why, in a bid to promote women’s water-polo, they participated in a friendly match in the State Games.”
