Bangladeshi premier teams Basundhara Kings and Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting have confirmed their participation in the IFA Shield this season, scheduled to be held in January 2024. IFA secretary Anirban Dutta confirmed their participation following a discussion with Basundhara Kings president Imrul Hasan and Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting director Abu Hassan Chaudhury. 

IFA secretary speaking from Dhaka on Sunday revealed, “The IFA Shield so far has been planned to be staged with six teams. Three foreign teams will be participating. Two have been confirmed. The third team might be from Bangladesh or from any other country which is yet to be finalized. Along with them, East Bengal, Mohun Bagan, and Mohammedan Sporting will be invited to participate in the competition."

Basundhara Kings is the four-time Bangladesh Premier League winner while Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting won the Federation Cup last season. One more foreign team is expected to take part in the historic competition.
