Before facing Nikhat Zarin in trials Nitu wants to strengthen her training with senior male boxers at BBC

Nikhat after being the World Champion has already earned eligibility to take part in the Asian Games.

Nitu Ghanghas might be the happiest person after being the senior World Champion in the 48kg weight category. But she is very much aware of the fact that her weight category is not included in the Asian Games, scheduled to be held this year and she has to compete in the 50kg weight category in the Asian Games where her biggest challenge will be Nikhat Zarin who also became World Champion in 50kg weight category on Sunday night.

Incidentally, Nikhat after being the World Champion has already earned eligibility to take part in the Asian Games. Now, if Nitu has to earn qualification for the Asian Games then she will have to take part in a selection trial against Nikhat in the 50kg weight category.

Nitu speaking over the phone from New Delhi said, "Within a couple of days I will be going back home and resume training under my coach Jagdish Singh. I am optimistic that I will be more perfect and strong after training against the senior male boxers at the club (BBC)."

The 23-year-old boxer from Bhiwani who divulged that she dedicated her gold medal to the country's boxing fraternity added, "I was already a Commonwealth Games gold medalist. But I was determined to win World Championship as I knew a title in this mega-competition will help me to have an identity."

Nitu pointed out saying, "The semi-final bout against Kazakhstan's Alua Balkibekova was most memorable as I lost to her in the last World Championship."

However, Nitu's mentor and Dronacharya awardee coach Jagdish Singh of Bhiwani Boxing Club (BBC) revealed that he was hopeful of Nitu's success after his student defeated a Japanese boxer in the quarterfinal. Jagdish Singh speaking over the phone from Bhiwani, said, "Nitu took advice almost before her every match in the World Championship. She has some natural qualities like patience, movement, speed, power, and maturity. Still, she has to improve in some aspects. She has to learn the techniques of not allowing the opposition to use her key weapons. But once she defeated the Japanese boxer I felt she could be champion as a Japanese boxer was a quality boxer."

However, Jagdish has started planning Nitu's preparation ahead of the Asian Games as he stated, "Now Nitu has to defeat Nikhat in the selection trial if she wants to earn qualification in the Asian Games. Let us hope for the best."
