Bengal bag fur gold medals in 85th Cadet and Sub-junior national TT

In the SGFI National School Games also held in Indore, Subhankrita Datta, and Bodhisattwa Chowdhury emerged as the best in the under-19 categories, winning gold medals.

Bengal paddlers recorded an impressive show in the 85th Cadet and Sub-junior national table tennis championship held in Indore from 15th to 19th January.

Bengal bagged seven medals comprising four gold medals, two silver medals, and a bronze in the tournament.

In the Under-15 category, team Bengal although became the runners-up, Soham Mukherjee clinched the gold medal in the singles event. Partnering with Rupam Sardar, Soham also won the gold medal in the doubles event. They beat Bengal’s Debraj Bhattacharya and Aditya Das, the pair which secured the silver medal. Debraj Bhattacharya also got a bronze medal in the singles event. 

 

 

In the under-13 category, Aditya Das won the boys' singles gold, and pairing with Himon Mondol, Aditya won the gold medal also in the doubles event. 

However, in the SGFI National School Games also held in Indore, Subhankrita Datta, and Bodhisattwa Chowdhury emerged as the best in the under-19 categories, winning gold medals

In the final Subhankrita Datta defeated Anannya Chande of Maharastra by 3-2 while Bodhisattwa Chowdhury, the runner-up in the recently held Youth Nationals singles event, drubbed Bengal’s Ayan Ghosh 3-0.

 

 

Incidentally, Ankur Bhattacharya, the current Youth National champion maintained his form and won double crown in the Public Sector Table Tennis Championship held at Jaipur, winning gold medals in the singles and in the team event. In the doubles event Ankur and his partner Agniv Gosain finished as the runner-up, losing in the final. In the singles event Ankur defeatd K. J. Akash.
