Bengal destroy MP by 306 runs, ensures a berth in the final

Bengal took sweet revenge of their semi-final defeat against Madhya Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy last year with a humiliating 306-run victory over the same team on Sunday in Indore. Bengal that had already played two finals in last two cricket seasons ensured a berth in the final again to meet Sourashtra this season. The final is slated on 18th February.

Chasing 547 runs to win the match, the second innings of Madhya Pradesh collapsed at 241. After Akash Deep wrecked MP in the first innings with 5 for 42, it was Pradipta Pramanik who shattered the hosts scalping 5 wickets at the cost of 51 runs in 10.5 overs. Rajat Patidar (52 off 58 deliveries) and Anubhav Agarwal (unbeaten 30 off 12 deliveries) were the only two batsmen who could resist Bengal's incisive and consistent bowling. Akash Deep was chosen man of the match.

Brief Scores: Bengal 438 & 279 (A. Majumder 120, S. Gharami 112, K. Kartikeya 3/95) VS Madhya Pradesh (170 & 241, P. Pramanik 5/51). Bengal won the match by 306 runs.
