Bengal girls plagued by injuries and fever, succumb to Jharkhand in final

Nisha Halder scored the only goal for Bengal.

Bengal girls finally failed to accomplish their dream of clinching the sub-junior girls' national championship title. They lost to Jharkhand in the final by six goals as the score-line ended 7-1 in Jharkhand's favor in Amritsar on Wednesday.

But before stepping onto the ground to play the final, the team received shock as two of the first eleven footballers, Antara Dolui and Rupa Sarkar had to rush to the hospital on Wednesday morning.

Dolui was suffering from a high fever and breathing problems while Rupa Sarkar's leg injury aggravated. According to Bengal coach Minati Roy, goalkeeper Sabina Sarkar also participated in the final with a fever. The coach said, "Still we created a couple of positive chances at the beginning of the match. If those chances could be converted then the score-line might have been different."

Nisha Halder scored the only goal for Bengal.
