Bengal Gymnast Sagnik Bera has passed away on 26th June's night at Mumbai's Navy hospital . He was only 26 years old. He was diagonised with heart problem and immediately went for surgery. But the resident of Darjipara of Baranagar could not handle that pressure. Sagnik has not regained consciousness since the surgery. Finally, almost a month of fighting stopped.
Sagnik won several titles at the national level after serving in Bengal and later in the Air Force. His untimely death is a shadow of grief in the gymnastics world of Bengal.
According to family sources, Sagnik used to live in Nashik due to his job in Indian Air Force. One day while practicing there, he suddenly fell ill and fell on the ground. After the promising gymnast was rushed to the hospital for tests, it came to light that she had a hole in her heart. Although he had heart problems since childhood, it was not diagnosed before. After the first treatment, the doctors said that urgent surgery is required. After which Sagnik was admitted to the Navy Hospital in Mumbai.
He underwent surgery there at the end of last month. But after that surgery, Sagnik never regained consciousness. Finally, the promising gymnast of Bengal passed away last night after failing all the efforts of the doctors.
Sagnik Bera's untimely death has not only left his family, but also Bengal's gymnasts from Darjipara in Baranagar a shadow of grief. Tomorrow, the body will reach Sagnik's home from the Navy Hospital in Mumbai. Sagnik, son of Baranagar, represented Bengal at the national level till 2016. He represented them after getting a job in the Air Force in 2019.
He has also brought many successes to Bengal and Air Force at the national level of gymnastics. Dilip Das, the head of the Bengal Gymnast Association, has expressed deep grief over Sagnik's untimely death. In his words, we lost a very promising gymnast at a very young age.
