Bengal suffered a defeat against Madhya Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy clash on Friday. 

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Bengal posted 189 for 9. Karan Lal scored a solid 44 off 30 balls, while Shahbaz Ahmed added a quick 33 off 16 balls.

Mohammad Shami, however, went wicketless as well as runnable in the game. 

Madhya Pradesh chased down the target with ease, thanks to a strong batting performance. Subhranshu Senapati's half-century played a key role before he was dismissed by Sayan Ghosh, who, along with Kanishk Seth, took two wickets each for Bengal.

After the match, Bengal holds the second position in the 2024 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy standings with 12 points, while Madhya Pradesh leads the table with 16 points.
