Bengal women earn whipping victory against formidable Manipur

Sulanjana Raul struck twice while Devneta Roy scored for the winner.

Bengal women continued their brilliant show in the second group league match of the National Games women’s football being held in Goa. 

They trounced formidable Manipur 3-0 on Sunday in their second group league match securing four points in two matches. Sulanjana Raul struck twice while Devneta Roy scored for the winner. 

Bengal women had to wait for 60 minutes before Sulanjana broke the deadlock. Then she doubled the lead in the 74th minute. Devneta sealed opposition’s fate in the last phase of the match.

The coach Dipankar Biswas, naturally happy with the team's performance divulged, "Not only the score-line the girls delivered an excellent brand of game throughout. The spectators not only applauded by cheering them, but some of them came to the ground after the match and congratulated them." 

Bengal will play their concluding group league match against Jharkhand on 31st October.
