
Bengaluru's Javi Hernandez’s magical overhead strike made all the difference
Bengaluru FC defeated East Bengal FC in the Indian Super League on Wednesday, Oct 4 at the Kanteerava Stadium. BFC took their sweet revenge this time around against EBFC as earlier East Bengal beat BFC in both legs of the ISL-9 season.
In the first half of the game Naorem Mahesh from East Bengal FC broke the deadlock and took the lead in the 15th minute with a wonderful left-footed finish assisted by Nandhakumar Sekhar. But within six minutes the hosts made the equaliser as Sunil Chhetri found the left corner of the net with a calm, stunning penalty.
East Bengal tried to take back the lead in the second half and desperately went offensive. Nandha, Mahesh and Cleiton took numerous attempts however they were unable to score.
Bengaluru tried to defend themselves and were clearly troubled. However, their break came as Javi Hernandez found the back of the net with a stunning acrobatic effort and the host team bagged all the points.
Bengaluru FC's Australian striker, Ryan Williams received the player of the match award in this game.
