Himanshu Jangra and Roshal, both scored five goals each in the final phase of the League.
East Bengal's under-21 coach Bino George is still fuming about the team's 'unceremonious' exit from the final phase of the under-21 Youth Football League, being organized by Reliance Foundation. East Bengal outplayed all four teams except the defeat against RFYS, gathering 9 points. They could have easily reached the top four with a draw only against RFYS and were denied. RFYS was standing on 10 points. Even, on the basis of goal average East Bengal juniors were ahead of the host team. Himanshu Jangra and Roshal, both scored five goals each in the final phase of the League.
Bino George raised a question saying, "I do not understand why they are calling its youth development. Otherwise, they would not have shown such an 'unfair' attitude to us. Being the host of the League they did not want us to qualify for the top four as they would have been out of the League if we were there."
Describing the biased attitude shown by Reliance Foundation, George commented, "First of all, we were not allowed to play our all matches on the natural turf. Out of four, we played two on the astroturf while RFYS played all their matches on the grass. Secondly, in the crucial tie against RFYS, Tuhin was unnecessarily ruled out, having seen two yellow cards within five minutes after the match, and where from the referee posted? The referee from Mumbai supervised the crucial match where a Mumbai-based team (RFYS) was playing! Still, our boys, playing with 10-men dished out a brave performance and took a 2-1 lead before conceding another goal to make the score-line 2-2. Then one of their defenders cleared a header unleashed by our striker by hands from the goal-line and we were denied of a genuine spot-kick."
Bino added, "Participating teams were not allowed to make videos of their matches. We asked the organizing committee people to show us the video clippings of the incident. They still have not shown us. The club also lodged a complaint to the AIFF. But I know we will not get any justice."
The 47-year-old first Pro-license coach from Kerala however left Kolkata on Thursday. He has recently received offers of joining as the assistant coach and head of the Youth team from Kerala Blasters as well as from North-East United for the coming season. But Bino revealed he will wait for the final words from East Bengal. He said, "The club has asked me to wait for a few days before taking the final decision."
But finally, Bino sounded satisfied with the under-21 boys' performance in the RFDL and also happy that most of them have been signed for a two-year-contract by the red-and-gold brigade.
