Bengal coach held clubs responsible for not sending the chosen footballers to the preparatory camp
Biswajit Bhattacharya, Bengal's coach for the ongoing senior national championship for Santosh Trophy held the club officials responsible for sending the chosen footballers to the final preparatory camp that ended on Wednesday at Kalyani.
During a press conference at Kalyani University, Bhattacharya mentioned this attitude as 'unfortunate'. The IFA secretary Anirban Dutta was also present at the conference. He said, "I saw it for the first time as Bengal coach. The final preparatory camp was held with 28 boys. Along with the players who took part in the Santosh Trophy qualifiers some joined the camp who participated in National Games. But 11 more footballers were called up in the final preparatory camp. They did not turn up. I have heard some footballers denied joining the camp as they said their selection in the first eleven is not sure." Bhattacharya added, "We felt proud only to have been called up in the Bengal camp. It inspired us. We were desperate to secure a berth in the final eleven. But today, the footballers' attitude has changed and that is unfortunate. The club officials are responsible, indulging in the footballers' such an unprofessional attitude."
However, coach sounded optimistic about the team's performance in the final phase. He revealed, the scheduled semifinal and the final in Dubai has been additional motivation for the footballers. He also asserted that the team that will depart on Thursday has no injury at the moment.
