Bopanna and Bhosale advance to thrilling mixed doubles final, vying for gold

Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale defeated Taiwan’s Yu-hsiou Hsu and Hao-ching Chan by 6-1, 3-6, 10-4 points

Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale, on Friday, reached the final of the Asian Games mixed doubles at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Tennis Centre Court 1.

They defeated the Taiwanese pair consisted of Yu-hsiou Hsu and Hao-ching Chan 6-1, 3-6, 10-4 in an hour and 12 minutes of intense showdown.

The opening set was a one-sided situation in favour of Bopanna and Rutuja as they masterfully converted three of their break point opportunities. However, in the second set, the Taiwanese pair turned the tables and levelled the match.

As the game entered a tie Bopanna and Bhosale showed off their skill and determination and gave it their all to take the lead right away. 

The pair is set to face off against Tsung-hao Huang and En-shuo Liang from Taiwan in the gold medal match. The Taiwanese pair defeated Philippines’ Francis Casey Alcantara and Alexandra Eala 7-5, 6-3 in an hour and 37 minutes and advanced to final. 

Bopanna and Rutuja are now in the spotlight as they eye the gold medal for themselves in the match set to take place on Saturday.
