Bose aims at building up an East Bengal Fans club in the city.
He is Somen Bose, a resident of Ahmadabad since 1987, and is an ardent fan of the red-and-gold brigade. Out of the passion for the team this 52-year-old Bengali originally hails from North of Kolkata, introduced a restaurant named East Bengal Tawa only a month ago and the result was unexpected.
Bose speaking over the phone from Ahmadabad on Tuesday, exclaimed, "More than hundreds of football lovers in the city are elated with the launching of East Bengal Tawa. They come to the restaurant and buy dishes according to their choice and the number of buyers is increasing gradually. Significantly, all of them have expressed delight saying that they are also fans of East Bengal. I could not expect such an impulsive response."
Bose used to see East Bengal's matches regularly in the 70s and early 80s with his father. He had to leave Kolkata and settle in Ahmadabad when he was only 16 years old. After settling in Ahmadabad Bose kept himself fit by playing football before concentrating on his father's business since 1993. He again started playing the game in 2013.
Bose added, "The city has an old club named Bengal Cultural Association. The club has now come up in a bigger way with influential and rich Bengali people living here joining. Following the club's initiative, a football team has also been formed named KVFC Kali Bari very recently. The veteran members of this club like me have also played in the veterans' tournament that took place a couple of days ago at the ARA club ground."
But simultaneously, Bose has not been able to reduce his addition to East Bengal. He is very much aware of the senior team's failure in the ISL, and the embarrassing situation that was created between the club officials and its investor through social media. Even Bose is aware of the East Bengal girls' Kanyasree Cup triumph this season.
However, Bose now aims at building up an East Bengal fans' club in Ahmadabad, wants to make the club aware of its strong presence in Ahmadabad, and then in near future, his dream is to take the East Bengal senior team to the city.
He concluded by saying, "I dream of taking the team from Kolkata to Ahmadabad at least once. I will make a proposal to our Bengal Cultural Association to take initiative regarding the issue. It might take some time but I will fulfill my dream in the future."
