Brazil thrash Paraguay 4-1; and advance to the quarterfinals

Vini had one of his greatest performances with the yellow team, not only scoring the first goals under the command of Dorival Junior but also scoring two goals in a national team match for the first time.

There is no room for crisis. Brazil, showing its prowess went all out and confirmed its dominance over Paraguay, registering a commanding 4-1 triumph at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Friday morning (India time). The goals were scored by Vinicius Jr (twice), Savinho and Lucas Paqueta.

With the result, the Brazilian team came second in Group D, with four points, three more than Costa Rica, which still has a negative balance of three goals.

To overtake Brazil, the Central American team would need to beat Paraguay in the last round and still eliminate the difference of six goals on balance - in the event of a defeat for Dorival Junior's men to Colombia.

Brazil played a lackluster game until the 30th minute, with the only highlights being Vini Jr.'s attempts on individual plays. The team was awarded a penalty after a handball by Paraguayan midfielder Cubas, but Lucas Paquetá went for the ball and kicked it off target, wasting the first big chance.

Despite this, the team did not give in and opened the scoring soon after, starting a good sequence of attacks. In a quick exchange in the middle, the midfielder himself, who missed the penalty, found a beautiful assist for Vini to dribble past goalkeeper Morinigo and tap the ball into the back of the net in the 34th minute.

The chances in the final third began to appear with quick plays from the sides. In the 42nd minute, Rodrygo made a great play, invaded the area and shot towards goal.

The Paraguayan goalkeeper saved it and the ball hit Espinoza and fell to Savinho, who pushed it in with the goal already open—Brazil's second at Allegiant Stadium.

Vini had one of his greatest performances with the yellow team, not only scoring the first goals under the command of Dorival Junior but also scoring two goals in a national team match for the first time in his career.

Both happened in the first half when the team took a 3-0 lead after a great performance. Savinho also left his mark in the first 45 minutes, unlike Lucas Paqueta, who missed a penalty.
