Calcutta Port Trust started their campaign in the qualifying round of the 125th Beighton Cup in style. They humbled West Bengal Police 9-1. A Suresh Sharma struck four, while Anand Ekka and Y Bidyananda Singh scored a brace and Asisan Bada scored one for CPT. West Bengal Police got the consolation goal through Santosh Rajbhar.

In other match of the qualifying round on the day, Police AC beat Vivid YHC 2-0. Dipak and Karambir Singh scored one each for Police AC.
