Paraguay midfielder misses FIFA friendly after his passport ends up in the washing machine!

A strange incident happened in the world of football once again. Paraguay midfielder Andres Cubas must have spent nights in nightmares after missing FIFA friendlies for his country last Saturday and Tuesday. Cuba fled to travel from Canada to Paraguay as his passport was missing. But he could not have imagined that the passport would be found in the washing machine at his home in the end!

Cubas, who plays for Canada’s Vancouver Whitecaps, missed both Paraguay’s friendlies in a 2-1 loss to the U.S. on Saturday and a 2-1 win over Mexico on Tuesday.

“He messed up, he forgot it in his trousers. And well, the lady who works there didn’t notice either, and they put them in the washing machine. He’s really annoyed,” the player’s father, Francisco Cubas, told Paraguay’s ABC TV this week.

Andres was able to obtain a new passport but was unable to complete the visa process in time to leave Canada for the matches, his father added.
