CBI letter to the ACB on J&K Khelo India Games scandal

According to the investigation report the Khelo India Games scandal mentions Rs 63 Lakh. On paper, the amount was distributed among the districts but no football took place.

After the mega scandals surrounding in Jammu and Kashmir Football Association including the Mufti Memorial Football Tournament Scam (Rs 2.40 Crore), Baby League Scam (Rs 27.50 Lakh), and Biryani Scam in the name of organizing Sports Events and developing football activities, Khelo India Football Scam has come up with a new dimension where allegations are being made that the the former J&K officials who robbed the money are roaming around freely.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has already sent a letter to the Director of the Anti-Corruption Bureau requesting him to start a further investigation and arrest the culprits immediately.

According to the investigation report the Khelo India Games scandal mentions Rs 63 Lakh. On paper, the amount was distributed among the districts but no football took place.

A source close to the J&K Football Association said on condition of anonymity, "Budgam district does not have a football club even. The former association officials showed Rs 11.40 Lakh was invested for the tournament and developmental activities. The total money was grabbed into personal bank accounts of the association's top brass."

One of the former and alleged JKFA officials Fayaz Ahmed Sofi was arrested by ACB in March 2023. He was released also on conditional bail but still other culprits are roaming freely but no action was taken in this regard. Allegations have come up from the present J&K Sports Council and J&K Football Association administrators that despite the involvement of high-profile individuals in the scam, justice has not been fully served, and the culprits are still roaming free.

Regarding the Khelo India Games football competition, the CBI letter dated 27th May last year has already been conveyed and requested to ACB for an investigation into the matter as the case is deemed fit.
