Celebrities to participate in golden marathon

Adding to the announcements, Sujit Bose revealed plans for a new healthcare initiative, Gandhi Sewa Sadan Hospital, to be established in Bidhan Nagar, underscoring Sreebhumi's commitment to both health and community welfare.

Sreebhumi Sporting Club has officially unveiled the third edition of the Manipal Sreebhumi Gold Marathon, scheduled for 12th January. The marathon will feature three categories: 21 km, 10 km, and 3 km. To add excitement, a prize of ₹1 lakh has been announced for the winner of the 21 km run.

At a press meet hosted by Sujit Bose, MLA and President of Sreebhumi Sporting Club, key personalities like Chess Grandmaster Dibyendu Barua, 2002 Asian Games silver medallist Soma Biswas, shooter Joydeep Karmakar, former Mohun Bagan player Denson Devdas, Manipal Hospitals executives, and Bidhannagar Commissioner of Police were present.

Speaking about the event, Sujit Bose stated, “This third edition of the marathon promotes healthier lifestyle choices amidst hectic lives. To encourage more participation, we have increased the prize money this year.” He also expressed optimism about exceeding last year's turnout of 6,000 participants.

Asian Games medallist Soma Biswas urged Kolkata residents to participate, highlighting how such events create meaningful opportunities for athletes facing various challenges. 

“This is an astonishing opportunity for the athletes. They have various barriers and face many problems. This marathon will prompt them to take a step forward and further exhibit opportunities and optimism towards sports.” 

Manipal Hospitals assured attendees that teams of paramedics and ambulances would be on standby to address any emergencies promptly.
