The Hangzhou Asian Games kick-started today with a unique opening ceremony which is a blend of the traditional and the modern eco-friendly technology. It portrays China's path to modernisation while simultaneously combining eastern aesthetics in a globalised viewpoint. Indian sports minister, Anurag Thakur cancelled their visit to Hangzhou due to the visa denial situation for the three Wushu players from Arunachal Pradesh, though other officials attended the ceremony. 

Loud Cheers greeted the Indian contingent led by the torch bearers, boxer Lovlina Borgohain and Hockey captain Harmanpreet Singh. The Indian contingent donned a khaki textured saree for women and a khaki kurta for the male players. Athletes from around 45 Asian countries and territories are participating in 40 varied sports events across 61 fields. All in all the Asian Games 2023 is a spectacle to behold.
