Clubs complain about ‘unplayable’ Ambedkar Stadium, AIFF points at Sudeva’s callousness

The team’s several footballers were forced to inhale such an amount of dust that they had to rush to the washrooms to vomit during the break.

The ground condition of Ambedkar Stadium, New Delhi is horrible. Several parts of the ground do not have grass. It is hard and has uneven bounce. The footballers, playing on the pitch are getting often injured.

The current Indian Women’s League (IWL) champion Odisha FC had to face huge difficulty while playing against Hops FC at Ambedkar Stadium ground. Several footballers got injured.

Additionally, the ground has a new gift for the footballers who are playing on the ground.

A lot of dust is seen blowing in the wind continuously due to lack of proper watering on the ground. The reflection was obvious.

United Sports Club played their crucial away match in I-League second division against Sudeva FC at Ambedkar Stadium ground on Wednesday.

The team’s several footballers were forced to inhale such an amount of dust that they had to rush to the washrooms to vomit during the break. The Kolkata outfit that lost to Sudeva FC by a 97th-minute solitary goal submitted an official complaint before leaving Delhi.

The AIFF is aware of this fact. But the Indian football's ruling body seems to only taking lessons looking forward to the next season. According to the rule, Sudeva FC should maintain the ground as the club chooses Ambedkar Stadium as its home venue.

According to AIFF, Sudeva FC has repeatedly given intimation to do repairing work on the Ambedkar Stadium ground but the Delhi-based club has not initiated the maintenance of the inverted ground.

Now, it is learned the Federation seems to have started thinking in a line where some action against such clubs that are not following the Federation's rules, can be taken before the next season starts.

Significantly, the AIFF nowadays has taken a style, asking over the media not to make publicity of any negative news for the ‘sake of Indian football’s development’.

But how will the AIFF clarify when the improper activities, one after another ‘for the sake of Indian football’s development’ are guiding Indian football to gradual deterioration?
