CM announces Rs 60 lakh, MDSP plans to memorize late Mohammed Habib

The club presented the lifetime achievement award 'Shan-e-Mohammedan Sporting' to former Indian international footballers Bhaskar Ganguly and Aslam Parvez on the day.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced Rs 60 lakh for Mohammedan Sporting on Wednesday. She was invited by the club to inaugurate the club's renovated tent. The state Chief Minister also promised that the club will receive more financial assistance when the team will earn eligibility to take part in the ISL by winning the I-league. 

The club secretary Ishtiaque Ahmed revealed, "The CM's financial assistance and encouragement gave us more confidence and increased responsibility to regarding the betterment of the team’s performance.” 

Incidentally, the club observed a minute’s silence for the late Mohammed Habib before the inauguration program. Habib was one of the star footballers of Mohammedan Sporting and later was the team’s coach also. The club secretary also informed us, they have plans to memorize Habib in the future. He added, "We might organize a football tournament with the youngsters by the name of Habib in the future."

The club presented the lifetime achievement award 'Shan-e-Mohammedan Sporting' to former Indian international footballers Bhaskar Ganguly and Aslam Parvez on the day, giving them Rs 50 thousand each.
