After Sreejesh said goodbye to hockey Krishan Pathak, one of the junior World Cup-winning members in 2016, has been the first goalkeeper and the last man of India's defense.
Krishan Pathak was the second goalkeeper on the senior national hockey team for almost six-seven years, grooming himself under PR Sreejesh's tutelage.
Now, after Sreejesh said goodbye to hockey Krishan Pathak, one of the junior World Cup-winning members in 2016, has been the first goalkeeper and the last man of India's defense.
Still, the goalkeeper has not forgotten the moments he spent with Sreejesh in several national preparatory camps.
While speaking to News18 during Hockey India’s seventh annual award function recently, Krishan admitted saying, “I have learned a lot from him while we were together in the team. As juniors, whatever guidance we receive from the seniors is very important for us, as well as how we apply those teachings to our game. Ever since I made my debut, Sreejesh always kept saying, 'Give your 100% on the turf'. He taught me how to guide the team from behind, run the defense, and communicate with the team, and all those things matter.
Krishan whose first major assignment at the senior level was the Asian Champions Trophy, maintained a clean sheet throughout the competition and while sharing his experience explained, "It was my major senior-level engagement where I learned the responsibility of a goalkeeper in a match."
Krishan also praised Craig Fulton revealing that Fulton’s guidance helped him to hone his craft as a goalkeeper.
Kishan also divulged when asked about his 2028 Olympics, “Fulton has asked us to take one tournament at a time. The Olympics is the end goal but there is the World Cup before that (in 2026, Belgium and Netherlands). We have to qualify for that in the first place, and for that, we have to play in the Asia Cup. So yes, we will go step by step.”
